In the spirit of project-based learning, you are now going to create your own projects. You'll do this in groups and you can choose which area to look at. You may choose language, science, or art as your main theme. At the end you will have to present your ideas to the rest of the class.
Project title: Urban Pollution
Theme: The social environment
Aim: To take photos around the city of places that are polluted.
Audience: Early and teens and above
Duration: 4 lessons
Step 1. Place the students in small groups
a. Take photos of polluted areas in KL.
b. Choose a theme (rubbich, traffic, river etc)
Step 2. Choose the best three photos that show the level of pollution for the chosen theme.
Step 3. Propose a plan to address and improve this area of pollution
Step 4. Present your ideas to the rest of the class.
Project title: Egg Drop
Aim: To create a protective case for an egg.
Audience: 10 years and above
Materials: Eggs, cardboard, plastic bottles etc.
Duration: 2 lesson
Step 1. Place the students in small groups and explain the aim.
Step 2. On paper each group should brain storm possible ideas, from which they choose one.
Step 3. Provide students with materials and create the case.
Step 4. Conduct a competition to see which group's idea is the strongest.
Step 5. Students try to design a new style of motor cycle helmet that is cost effective and made from recycled materials.
